Unfold the leaves, like pages of a herbarium, to discover who we are and the roots of our project.

Campestre is a landscape architecture and garden design studio founded by Mathilde Morize and Erik Uldall Romero. Based in Barcelona, we work on projects throughout Spain, the Balearic Islands, southern France, and Corsica, across both private and public contexts.

Mathilde spent her childhood in Madagascar, surrounded by a wild and endemic nature that deeply shaped her relationship with plants and landscapes. Medicinal plants were part of her everyday life, nurturing a curiosity for the living world. This early connection led her to study Urban Studies at Sciences Po in Paris and Rio de Janeiro, before specializing in landscape architecture in Barcelona.
She has worked with studios of different scales and approaches in Paris, Barcelona, and Ibiza. Her projects reflect a perspective formed between the urban and the natural, between research and intuition.

Erik grew up in Andalusia, in an environment that fostered his interest in preserving cultural and natural heritage.
Years later, he chose to retrain as a gardener in Ibiza, where he developed a solid knowledge of soil and plants.
His experience combines direct practice with a creative and conscious approach, always seeking balance between human intervention and the preservation of ecosystems. The projects he works on embody this blend of sensitivity, technique, and deep respect for the environment.

We design outdoor spaces —patios, terraces, gardens, and parks— both private and public, that connect with their natural and cultural surroundings and with the people who inhabit them.

We work across all phases of the project:

  • site analysis
  • conceptual design
  • executive project
  • construction supervision
  • post-planting follow-up

Addressing all these stages allows us to ensure the ecological, formal, and aesthetic coherence of the project, as well as its long-term durability.

We analyze, imagine, draw, and plan taking into account:

the rustic character of the place, the sun and its path, the wind, the flow of water, the topography, the soil and its characteristics, the existing plant palette, the scents, the sounds, the uses and needs to create naturalistic and sensitive gardens that teach us to observe and consider the world around us, and help re-enchant everyday life.

“Aménager un balcon dans un esprit naturaliste avec Campestre Studio”

We select native and climate-adapted plants, addressing the challenges of garden uniformity, climate change, soil artificialization, and prolonged droughts. Our vision is inspired by the beauty of the wild and the landscapes around us, striving for a sustainable balance between the natural and the designed.

We celebrate outdoor living, creating spaces where people gather, enjoy, and share: a place to play, an outdoor kitchen, a family afternoon under the pergola, or corners that invite unexpected encounters, always with the right furniture to complete the experience.

We integrate wellness areas that encourage relaxation and self-care: meditation or yoga platforms, outdoor showers, natural ponds, and vegetable gardens that bring people closer to the land.

We also incorporate edible and medicinal plants, and spaces inspired by traditional herb gardens, enriching daily life and deepening the connection with the living world.
